The main goal of my project is probably to echo the good works that all and every social entrepreneur out there has been doing. Some people see social entrepreneurship as a new accelerating “trend” in the business world. Though, I came to realization that many people still fail to notice social enterprises around them. I hope that this project will act as a guide to social enterprises for socially aware consumers (or inhabitants, tourists, business partners, etc.) in Bangkok and Upstate New York areas. “Wait, but, what exactly is social entrepreneurship?” you might ask. Well, if you use the handy search engine you will find that wikipedia defines social entrepreneurship as a technique of conducting business that develops, funds, and implements solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues. Sounds great, right? Social enterprises can be both non-profit or for-profit, as long as money is not the only one goal. Most social entrepreneurs see problems in the society that, they believe, can be solved by their business models. Moreover, solving social problems poses great challenges and tradeoffs to business owners which requires strong passion and management skills in order to pursue their businesses. I wish that you, as an informed participant of the economy, will also look at “our philosophy” pages more often and less of the price tags comparison. Last but certainly not least, please make sure to visit and support these great businesses!
