Now that fall semester is coming to an end, I would like to update some details about my project.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) vs. Social Entrepreneurship (SE) There is often some confusion regarding the differences between social enterprises and other businesses. Since my project will focus on social enterprises, I would like to clarify certain points. Many businesses offer programs or give donations that would benefit the community which is a good thing, but that does not qualify them as social enterprises. Instead, it is called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which is when businesses create self-regulatory mechanisms to ensure that the business models, employers, employees, and customers behave within ethical and socially aware boundaries. On the other hand, social enterprises started their businesses or drafted their business models to solve some issues while generating profits for sufficiency. For example, Starbucks providing scholarships for its employees is a CSR. While, Puzzles Bakery & Cafe hiring employees with disabilities to decrease their unemployment rate makes it a social enterprise. New Ideas During a group meeting, I shared my struggle of getting the words about social enterprises out in the community. Thankfully, I received some helpful ideas.
Lastly, Happy Holidays!
